5 Tips For Choosing The Perfect Logo For Your Business

Your logo is the cornerstone of your brand’s identity, so it’s important to get it right. Here are five essential tips to keep in mind when designing your logo:

1. Consider Limiting Your Colour Palette

When creating your logo, it’s a good idea to aim for no more than four solid colours, and avoid gradients. Why? If you ever need to print your logo - whether it’s for screen printing or embroidery - you’ll likely be charged per colour. Fewer colours can result in lower costs. Plus, gradients don’t translate well in printing and can appear muddy or inconsistent. Solid, bold colours work best for clear, professional results.

2. Get Your Logo as a Vector File

A vector file is a type of image that can be resized without losing quality. This means your logo can be as small as a social media icon or as large as a billboard, without becoming pixelated or distorted. Vector files are essential for both digital use and print, where a higher resolution (300dpi for printing) is required. Without a vector file, enlarging a smaller image can result in a blurry or low-quality logo, so be sure to ask for one! Already have a logo but need it in vector format? We can help you convert your existing logo into a scalable vector file.

3. Request a Transparent PNG Version

When using your logo on different backgrounds, a transparent PNG is your best friend. Logos with a white background often look unprofessional when placed on top of a coloured background. With a transparent PNG, you can seamlessly place your logo on any surface - whether it’s your website, a poster, or branded merchandise - without the unsightly box around it. If you already have a logo but need to remove the background, we can create a transparent PNG for you.

4. Create Different Logos for Different Applications

One size doesn’t fit all when it comes to logos. A logo that looks great on a website banner may not work as well in a social media profile picture or on a business card. Having multiple versions of your logo, such as a full logo for letterheads and a simplified version for smaller spaces, ensures your brand looks sharp and consistent across all platforms. We offer comprehensive branding packages tailored to your needs, from our 'All In' Branding Package to our 'Social Media' Branding Package and even our flexible 'Pick n Mix' Package for businesses that need different versions of existing logos. 5. Have a Black and White Version of Your Logo

Make sure to have a black-and-white version of your logo to ensure it stays clear and readable in any situation where colour printing isn’t available. This can be especially important for things like photocopying or newspapers. High-contrast designs in black and white ensure no details are lost, keeping your logo effective in any medium.
